VERTICALstrategies is a three-day seminar dealing with the marketing and promotion of low-budget documentary, fiction and TV films (in the one million Euro range).
It gives independent producers a chance to examine market mechanisms and their practical implementation. Right from the conception of a film, collaboration with sales and distribution experts begins, preparing the way for its later financing and sale. We estimate that one third of the films financed by television or public funds have no chance of commercial distribution - one reason being that they were not produced with a real market in mind. This should change.
Experts from the European film and television industry share their knowledge of distribution, licensing and marketing and are available for discussions on a one-to-one basis. Our tutors are commissioning editors, distributors and TV-buyers. They are experts working for production companies, post-production houses, processing laboratories and world sales companies. In addition, delegates from major film festivals advise you of the possibilities and requirements of promoting a film at festivals. Other experts discuss logistics, subtitling and marketing.
Objective: Implementation of vertical strategic thinking and working into the life-cycle-management of filmmaking and film production.
Target Audience: Independent European producers of low and medium budget documentary and fiction films, as well as TV productions. They should either have their own production company or be on the staff of a bigger production company.
